“Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book is a highly edited collection of wedding service providers – from mom and pop boutiques to A-Listers. Bottom line, these vendors are the best of the best.” Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book
Colour Craft Media is proud to be accepted into Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book of vendors for Hawaii Wedding Cinematography! It’s a real honor as anyone who wishes to advertise with them must go through an arduous approval and screening process which involves evaluation on design, work, and personality of your company. They saw our work, loved it, and immediately pushed us through the process.
CCm aims to be a well designed and fashionable cinematography studio without sacrificing the individuality of each couple. Style Me Pretty’s editor (Abby Larson) also feels the same way about design. She feels it’s all about putting your own personality and style into your wedding and it should give your guests a view of who you are as a couple. Your wedding design should be based on what you as a couple love and not what someone else says is chic or “in” at the time. It’s such a great feeling to be associated with a blog like Style Me Pretty who cares about the quality of vendors they allow to advertise and be a part of their Little Black Book rather than just opening the door to anyone who has the cash to pony up.
Take a look at their blog if you’re looking for some design inspiration. There’s quite a bit of swagger being tossed around there :).
It’s been a crazy 2009! So many changes happened and it was a whirlwind of a year! I have to admit, I didn’t think I’d be in this position a year ago :). Well…where to begin?
Attending the SM workshop in canada that transformed me from a wedding ‘videographer’ to a wedding ‘cinematographer’ really jump started a new way of looking at weddings. Instead of following a set mold or set routine, it gave me the freedom to THINK and actively pursue new ideas. Those 3 days spent freezing my tail off along with the other 11 attendees was a blast!
Finding out who my real friends were in this industry, that was a big one. When push came to shove, I knew who I could REALLY count on when things were rough. I must say, it was a HUGE surprise. I would have never thought in a million years the people who I have grown close to and ‘talk shop’ with would be in my close association of friends/industry friends 1 year ago. It’s really funny how different of a place you can be in that short amount of time. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for supporting me. Know that I have your back with whatever may come. From my Filipino brothers, Hawaiian homies to my Canadian compadres and everywhere in between, you guys know who you are.
Next mile marker was starting my own studio. Having a difference of philosophy from the studio I used to shoot with is what led me to do so. I actually never wanted to start my own studio but sometimes life throws you curve balls and you have no choice but to make lemonade (wait..what), lol. Reflecting back on that decision, it was scary but totally worth it. Would I have chose the same path if the circumstances were different? No, I’d still be shooting for that studio. I guess, in a way, it’s a blessing all those things culminated leading to me leave.
With all that said, thanks for reading my novel of a post! Here’s to new beginnings, great friends, and new opportunities! Thank you to all my 2009 couples and to all my 2010 couples, I look forward to having your story ‘take flight’ with Colour Craft Media!
During the Michelle and Landon wedding I shot in Ohio, I also took some b-roll of my buddy Brian Jones from iDream Media in action, my compadres @ red Bicycle Media just got done cutting up the footage. Here’s the video :
I’ve moved into the 2000s. :) I finally opened a blog to log my escapades in the world of cinematography! This blog will serve as a record of my hawaii weddings, corporate projects, and personal projects. Thanks to all the people who supported me in the pursuit of this craft. I would not have pushed as hard as I have without your support and for that I’m eternally grateful. The main site is still under construction and I’m looking to have it finished within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, check back often as I will be releasing new films wedding and non-wedding related in the upcoming days.
