Ann + Bryce – Same Day Edit (Honolulu, HI // The Modern Hotel)

The same day edit film of a long time friend and his brand new wife.  I’ve known Bryce since the 7th grade and the reality has been hitting me more and more as I film each of my friends’ weddings….we’re grown ups.  haha.

Bryce used to hang out at the “Mauka bench” with all of the other kids from Mililani Mauka Elementary, such as myself, in intermediate school (junior high to all you mainlanders ;P).  We all shared common friends, much of whom I’ve known since the 6th grade, so we grew pretty close all the way thru high school.  A fond memory I have of our group was when we all used to wrestle at our friend Sean’s house after school.  A fun tidbit about their reception grand entrance, Bryce + Ann walked out to wrestling theme music and did the DX chop / “suck it” gesture, hahaha.  Too awesome.  It was like a mini high school reunion at their wedding and  It was great catching up with old friends. :)   I only got to meet Ann for the first time a few months ago (about a week prior to the wedding) and I was truly, truly happy that Bryce found such a wonderful woman as his partner in life.  Outgoing and beautiful with a bubbly personality, it was pretty apparent why Bryce fell in love with her.

Imagine my excitement, and admittedly a bit of nervousness, when it came time to film their wedding.  I’ve never been one to worry about my couples’ expectation when it comes to their wedding film and same day edits as I have full confidence in my team and I’s ability, however there’s a small (well ok…HUGE) level of expectation to perform when it’s a childhood friend.  I watched intently as Ann + Bryce saw their SDE at the reception and a big sigh of relief came over me when Bryce + Ann emote with joy as the film finished.

Congrats Bryce + Ann!  It was truly my pleasure being your Hawaii wedding cinematographer :)

Aloha Kia x Hawaii Food Bank // Holiday Commercial

The holidays are upon us.  I do my best to be thankful at all times for what I’ve been blessed with, however it seems that more so during the holiday months, the feeling of thankfulness is magnified thru the sad realization that not everyone is as fortunate.  I had the pleasure of being the director of photography for a television commercial shot for the Hawaii Food Bank in association with Aloha Kia.  I really dug the fact that Aloha Kia was doing a promotion for Hawaii Food Bank that by donating cans, you can get credit towards a purchase of a car.  A nice win-win situation.  ER marketing directed the piece while Daniel B. did the editing. The hamsters hijinks in the background were a nice touch.  In the next coming weeks, I’ll be adding more commercial projects as well as a few wedding same day edits that I’ve been holding back for the launch of the site.

Enjoy!

May + Dominic – Same Day Edit (Honolulu, HI)

Annnndddd….we’re back.

After a few months of shooting hiatus, CCm is back on the scene with this year’s first SDE. May and Dominic had their wedding ceremony at St. Elizabeth in Aiea, HI. What I love about this church is it’s long aisle. Lots of room and time for steadicam fun ;). Photosession madness was at kaka’ako park and we finished off the night at the beautiful Halekulani hotel for the reception.

I’m currently flying back and forward from mainland USA and I originally wasn’t able to be the wedding cinematographer for May and Dom. Luckily, a good friend of mine from the industry was able to step in and help out with shooting that day. Big thanks to Joel, Gabe, and Mario for their assist on this shoot. This was the first time I was actually an hour AHEAD of schedule for SDE showing. Gave me extra time to polish and cinescope the clip ;).

Much thanks to all the great vendors and especially to Taryn from a Touch of You event planning. Always a true pleasure working with such a professional :).

“At a loss for words..” // Pamela ‘ Bronson – Same Day Edit (Honolulu, Hawaii)

Ok, ok….I confess. I’ve been holding out on this one. It’s been up on vimeo hiding for almost 2 months. Why? I’ve been at a loss for words. I couldn’t figure out anything clever to say to match how epic I felt this piece was…so I’ll just stick to the story :). I had the pleasure of shooting alongside my personal mentor in the wedding cinematography world, Michael Y. Wong and arguably one of the best editors/storytellers in Hawaii, Joel Campos. This team was put together the last minute and was the personification of a “clutch team”. They both pulled thru for me and I wouldn’t have been able to get this same day edit out to the level that I was able to push it without their lightning fast rough cutting, skilled shooting + story telling, and my 100% peace of mind that the reception was being shot perfectly while I chopped away at the computer. Please visit the vimeo page if you’d like to read more on how I put the edit together.

Now on to the lovely couple!

Pamela and Bronson were originally from Hawaii and now reside on the mainland. From the moment I met them, I was happy to discover that “aloha” had never left their hearts. The thing I really loved about this couple was that they had ZERO pretension. Very down to Earth and laid back…epitome of Hawaii :). They wanted to do a first look…but not the “cheesy type” as Pam put it. After some quick brainstorming during the rehearsal, I asked her if they were doing cards to which she affirmed. Logistically, it was going to be tough shooting the exchange as once I leave the groom’s room, I stick with the bride until first look / ceremony time. We came up with the brilliant idea of exchanging the cards during the 1st look and killed two birds with one stone. Gotta love MYW’s EPIC wide shot during the approach ;).

WIthout further delay….It is with great pleasure I share this piece with the world.

Enjoy!
